Town & Country leads fundraising efforts in support of cancer research and treatment

Sometimes helping the community means breaking a sweat. In the case of two recent fundraisers, Town & Country had a leadership role involving a benefit basketball tournament and a long-time walk.

In March, Town & Country presented the 30th Annual C-U Swish-Out Childhood Cancer Challenge, an event that held the distinction as Maine’s longest, continuous-running, 3-on-3 benefit basketball tournament. Nearly 200 people took to the court at USM in Gorham to raise funds for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. This year’s event marked the end of the long-running tournament as its founder, Town & Country’s own Jon Paradise, intends to be a part of other efforts to support the cause. In its final year, the event raised a record-setting $61,000 for the program, bringing the 30-year fundraising total to more than $750K for children with cancer and their families.

After the weather postponed Mary’s Walk in March, sunshine greeted the rescheduled event, which was held on Sunday, April 21, in Saco. In addition to being a significant sponsor of the event, a team of Town & Country staff and families raised funds and participated in the Walk. Through its sponsorship and fundraising, Town & Country contributed nearly $6,000 to the event in support of Maine Cancer Foundation.
